The Combat Sports Authority of NSW grants registration in Combatant, Promoter and Industry Participant classes in accordance with the Combat Sports Act 2013.

Applications for registration classes, including the renewal of registration classes, must be made through the Combat Sports Authority of NSW Combat Sports Registration System.

Access to the Combat Sports Registration System is through Service NSW. You must have a Service NSW account to access the system.

A single account has been created in the Combat Sports Registration System for persons that were registered under the Act through the previous Ringside Online registration system. Your recordedemail address has been used to create the account. Your Service NSW email address must match the email address recorded in your Combat Sports Registration System account.  

If you need to change your account email address contact the Combats Sports team via combatsports@sport.nsw.gov.au or 13 13 02.

If you don’t have a Service NSW account you can create one on the Service NSW website.

How to – step by step instructions

1.  Access the Combat Sports Registration System

  • You will be requested to log into your Service NSW account to access the system.
  • Your full name and date of birth must be exactly as it appears on the identification documents that accompany your application.

2.  Select Apply for Combatant Classes and commence an application

  • Your full name and date of birth must be exactly as it appears on the identification documents that accompany your application.

3.  Upload the following documents with your application

  • A passport style photograph in JPG/JPEG format.
  • A certificate of fitness, in the approved form, given by a medical practitioner not more than 28 days before the date on which the application is made. Note: The medical examination date recorded in the certificate must be in close proximity to the date the certificate was given (issued) by the medical practitioner.
  • A current serological clearance certificate in the approved form.
  • Certified copies of three (3) types of acceptable proof of identity documents. Identification documents do not need to be certified if an acceptable Document Verification Service (DVS) document is provided and a DVS match is returned by the Combat Sports Registration System.   • Complete a Parent/Legal Guardian Consent form, in the approved form, (applicants under 18 years of age).

4.  Select all required registration classes

  • An application for additional classes and payment of the applicable fee is required if you subsequently need additional classes.
  • Incomplete registration applications, including those submitted with invalid or expired documents, cannot be considered and may be refused, or further information and documents requested.
  • The application is not considered properly made under the Act until all required information and documents are provided. Your serological clearance certificate must be current and your certificate of fitness must have been given by a medical practitioner not more than 28 days before the date on which all information and documents are provided.
  • Persons under 18 years of age are not entitled to apply for registration, or to be registered, for a registration class applicable to any professional combat sport contest.

5.  Pay the applicable registration class application fee

  • Amateur Combatant registration classes: $20
  • Professional or Professional and Amateur Combatant registration classes: $100.

6.  Pay the applicable registration class application fee

  • Amateur Combatant registration classes: $20
  • Professional or Professional and Amateur Combatant registration classes: $100.

3. Select Apply for an Additional Registration Class

4. Complete an application and provide all required documents and information for the class(es) being applied for. Note that if your application is not duly made, a determination cannot be made.

5. Pay the appropriate fee.

Contact the Combat Sports team on 13 13 02 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) or via combatsports@sport.nsw.gov.au to obtain details on how to change your account email address in the new registration system.

DVS is a secure online system managed by the Department of Home Affairs. The DVS validates government-issued identity documents directly with the organisation of issue. This allows for immediate verification without the need for you to provide a copy of your identity documents to any other party.

Once a registration class has been applied for under an application, there is no ability to alter or change the application.

Contact the Combat Sports team via combatsports@sport.nsw.gov.au to obtain details of the change of name process.

Send an email to combatsports@sport.nsw.gov.au outlining your full name and new email address.  A member of the Combat Sports team will contact you to verify your identity and finalise the email change.

  2. Select Update next to your contact and email details
  3. Amend your telephone or residential address details and submit.

Yes. Applications for registration, or renewal of registration, made by persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by the relevant, approved Parent/Legal Guardian Consent.

An approved Parent/Legal Guardian consent form must also be provided when providing an updated serological clearance and/or certificate of fitness.

Registration classes expire three (3) years from the date granted unless sooner cancelled, or the term of registration is extended or reduced under the Act.

You must allow at least 5 business days for your application to be considered and registration class(es) granted or refused.

Note: Combatants must be appropriately registered before a final fight card in which they are competing is lodged with the Authority as per conditions imposed on the contest permit.

You must upload with your application a recent passport style photograph of yourself in JPG/JPEG format.  The photograph must satisfy the following standards.

  • Colour photograph
  • Head and shoulders only
  • Face looking directly at the camera and not tilted in any direction
  • Hair off face so that edges of the face are visible
  • Eyes open and mouth closed
  • Neutral expression (no smiling, laughing or frowning)
  • Clear, focused image with no marks or red eye
  • Plain white or light grey background that contrasts with your face
  • Uniform lighting (no shadows or reflections).

You will need to submit with your application, a serological clearance certificate, completed by a registered medical practitioner. The certificate is deemed current if the tests referred to in the clearance were carried out:

  • in the case of a person who is aged under 18 years - not more than 12 months before the date when the certificate is sought to be relied on, or
  • in the case of any other person - not more than 6 months before the date when the certificate is sought to be relied on.

You will need to submit with your application, a certificate of fitness, completed by a medical practitioner and submitted within 28 days of the issue date on the certificate.

The application is not considered properly made under the Act until all required information and documents are provided. Your certificate of fitness must have been given by a medical practitioner not more than 28 days before the date on which all information and documents are provided to the Authority.

  1. Access your account in the Combat Sports Registration System
    • You will be requested to log into your Service NSW account to access the system.
  2. Select "Manage my Combatant Registration Classes" in your Combat Sports Registration system account
  3. Select the relevant “Attach new certificate here” link at the top of your account’s main page.
  4. Complete the certificate details in the application.
  5. Upload:
  • certificate of fitness, in the approved form, given by a medical practitioner not more than 1 month before the date on which the application is made. The medical examination date recorded in the certificate must be in close proximity to the date given (issued) by the medical practitioner, and/or
  • a current serological clearance certificate in the approved form.

6.    Complete the declaration or upload the approved Parent/Legal Guardian Consent.

A person applying for, or renewing, registration classes under the Combat Sports Act 2013 (the Act) must provide with their application certified copies of three (3) types of acceptable proof of identification documents from the list below.  Identification documents do not need to be certified if an acceptable DVS document is provided and a DVS match is returned by the Combat Sports Registration System. The documents must satisfy the following:

  • Each document must be in the list of acceptable proof of identification documents.
  • Each document must be current.
  • Each document must be certified by an acceptable person listed below as a true and accurate copy of the original document identification documents do not need to be certified if an acceptable DVS document is provided and a DVS match is returned by the Combat Sports Registration System.
  • At least one document must be DVS compatible.
  • At least one document must contain a photograph.
  • At least one must contain a signature.
  • At least one must contain a date of birth.

ACCEPTABLE PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS

The following are acceptable proof of identification documents for the purpose of the Act and clause 18(d) of the Regulation.

  • Current Passport
  • Current Driver licence
  • Birth certificate
  • Citizenship certificate
  • Medicare / Private Health Insurance Card
  • Government Issued Proof of Age Card
  • Government Issued Identity Card
  • Government Issued Licence
  • Senior Citizen / Government Concession Card
  • Student identity card
  • School enrolment letter with photograph issued by school representative (minors only)

ACCEPTABLE PERSONS TO CERTIFY PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS

The following persons may certify identification documents as being a true and accurate copy of the original document for the purposes of the Act and clause 18(d) of the Regulation.

  • An accountant (member of a recognised professional accounting body or a Registered Tax Agent)
  • A person listed on the roll of the Supreme Court of a State or Territory or the High Court of Australia as a legal practitioner
  • A barrister, solicitor or patent attorney
  • A police officer
  • A postal manager
  • A principal of an Australian secondary college, high school or primary school.
  • A Public Notary
  • A medical practitioner
  • A Justice of the Peace (with a registration number in the State in which they are registered)
  • A minister of religion (registered under Subdivision A of Division 1 of Part IV of the Marriage Act 1961).

The acceptable person must sight the original document, compare it to the provided copy and include on each page of the copy the statement "I certify this to be a true and accurate copy of the original document.” or words substantially the same. The certification must be printed on the copy either using a stamp or handwriting in ink. A certification that has been added with a label or sticker is not sufficient.

The acceptable person must also include their full name, signature, date of signature, registration number (if any), and qualification or occupation which makes them eligible to certify documents, on each page of the copied identification documents.

A person applying for, or renewing, registration classes under the Combat Sports Act 2013 (the Act) who is not an Australian citizen or permanent resident must provide with their application certified copies of three (3) types of acceptable proof of identification documents from the list below.

ACCEPTABLE PROOF OF IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS

The following are acceptable proof of identification documents for the purpose of the Act and clause 18(d) of the Regulation.

  • Current Passport
  • Current Driver licence
  • Birth certificate

All combatants are issued with a Combat Sports Authority of NSW medical record book upon first registration. If you are renewing or completing a change class transaction, you will not be issued with a new medical record book.

    • You will be requested to log into your Service NSW account to access the system.
  2. Select Manage my Combatant Registration Classes in your Combat Sports Registration System account
  3. Select Replace a Medical Record Book
  4. Complete an application.
  5. Upload a statutory declaration outlining the circumstances in which the medical record book has been spoilt, lost (including stolen) or destroyed. 
  6. Pay the replacement medical record book fee: $50.

Note:

  • Replacement medical record books will be sent to your recorded postal address within 10 business days of your application.
  • Contact the Combat Sports team on combatsports@sport.nsw.gov.au or 13 13 02 if you are to engage in a combat sport contest as a combatant within the next three weeks to discuss alternate replacement medical record book arrangements.
  • Please ensure your recorded postal address is current.

  • You will be requested to log into your Service NSW account to access the system.

2. Select Manage my Combatant Registration Classes in your Combat Sports Registration System account

3. Select Replace a Medical Record Book

4. Complete an application, ensuring you select the reason as ‘full book’.

Note:

  • Replacement medical record books will be sent to your recorded postal address within 10 business days of your application. You will need to return the full medical record book to: Locked Bag 1422, Silverwater NSW 2128.
  • Contact the Combat Sports team on combatsports@sport.nsw.gov.au or 13 13 02 if you are to engage in a combat sport contest as a combatant within the next three weeks to discuss alternate replacement medical record book arrangements.
  • Please ensure your recorded postal address is current.
